Maho beach is labeled as one of the most dangerous beaches in the world.  Nestled at the end of a very active international airport, airplanes large and small fly low for a proper landing.  The planes seem to fly mere feet above your head as your feet enjoy the surf and sand.  A bar nearby lists the incoming and departing flights for the day.  Dangerous?  Yes, but not during landings.  The airplanes just stir up a little sand and are real loud.  Takeoffs however, can be deadly (for larger planes).  Visit the beach.  Swim and have fun… enjoy the landings.  But if a takeoff is coming up, take a break and walk to one end of the beach, then come back for more landings. Next time we’re in St Martin with our kids we will definitely add this to our list.  If you’re looking for a beach with more people and less planes, try Orient Bay.  If you want a quiet beach try Friar’s Bay.
