San Xavier del Bac Mission was built in the late 1700s and is the oldest European structure in the entire state. This Catholic mission is located just south of Tucson and really is a must-see. I’ve visited several times and they always seem to be open. Their website says they are open from 7 am until 5 pm most days and during mass on the weekends but I’ve seen them open outside of these hours. A visit to see San Xavier would be quick. They’ve got the main church itself which is absolutely beautiful. There’s also a small museum and a tiny gift shop.
