We’ve ridden the Heber Valley Railroad several times. Sure the kids love taking the public transportation (light rail) but there’s little to compare to riding a real railroad. They have a snack car (well priced candy bars, hot dogs, nacho chips, etc), a viewing car (depending on the year), and a place to go to the bathroom. They are rarely crowded. We’ve been during Halloween season and they have everything decorated. The have between two and five different routes they offer (with varying lengths) depending on the year. Check their website for more details.

During some trips they have a “train heist” that my kids REALLY got into. One of the robbers might stay and play old cowboy music for a while.  Sometimes we bring Grandpa along!
